Rotary Club of Kenilworth

RotaryGold LogoWhen asked what Rotary Club of Kenilworth does for our community, it is difficult to know where to start.

Do we mention the large projects such as our biggest fund raiser, the Two Castles Run? This gives 4,000 runners the chance to enter the area’s most prestigious Charity Run each year, the 10Km from Warwick Castle to Kenilworth Castle. With sponsorship, the runners also raise funds for their own charities.
Or should it be our annual Art Show at the Holiday Inn, which showcases the best of local arts talent, for all age groups?
Our fundraisers also include celebrating Diwali, Chinese New Year, Fish & Chip supper, and most recently an Antiques evening with Charles Hanson.

Which local charities benefit from the funds we raise locally?
There’s ILEAP, Waverley Day Centre, Admiral Nurses, The Kenilworth Centre, sponsoring a holiday in Blackpool, Imagineering sessions at a local school, defibrillators (3 in the town), Helping Hands, British Legion, A holiday for Children in Mapplethorpe, Chinewerde, Kenilworth Girls Rugby Tag team, The Gang Show, Tools for disabled people, Molly Olly’s Wishes, sponsoring vocational activities by our young people, ‘Action for Children’ respite care, and many more.

So why add our support to this new town initiative; the Ice Rink at Christmas?
Everyone will know us at the ‘Christmas Lights Switch On’ when we hire a small fairground organ to entertain the families as well as offer free soup and sweets for the visitors to the town centre. Well we think the free Ice Rink will provide something different, able to be enjoyed by everyone. It will enhance our celebrations and provide another opportunity to fund raise for a worthy national charity, ‘Children in Need’.

So, come along and say hello to us on Sunday 3rd December and celebrate with us, the warmth and friendliness of our Club and what it does for our town. Ask us how you can support our activities and put something back into your community, especially those in need, and play your part in helping all our many local charities.
